Sounds Fun: A First Step Into Music
Available spots
Service Description
Prerequisites: None! Tuesdays, 19:00-21:30, July 14-August 18 Maybe you've always wanted to sing and felt too intimidated. Maybe the thought of doing karaoke with your friends is too terrifying to be fun. Maybe you're an improviser who'd love to incorporate singing into your performance but don't know where to start. Join Jon Gazda, professional musician and composer, as he gently guides you into how to make music with your voice and body. We cover rhythm, melody, harmony, and lyrics, with many different exercises that anybody can do, no matter what their experience level. We'll incorporate various improv exercises and focus on working together as a team. By the end of the course, you may not be ready for your operatic solo, but you should feel comfortable singing along with friends and even making up a simple song on the spot. Jon Gazda has been improvising for nearly two decades and studying music even longer. When he's not teaching, making art, dancing, joking, or performing, he's working as a freelance composer.
