Introduction to Acting: Stage & Script
Service Description
Prerequisites: None! Tuesdays 19:00-21:30, October 21-December 9 Class Show: Tuesday December 16 All the world's a stage: learn to make it yours! In this beginner's acting course, we introduce you to the tools needed to bring scripted theater to life. Working with a range of techniques, we aim to demystify acting and enable students to approach texts with a sense of wonder and play. Together, we’ll create a conscious, supportive space where we’ll focus on bringing our own experience and imagination to the text, making strong choices, and working together with our scene partners. We’ll empower each other with the “Freedom to Fail,” thereby unleashing our inner creativity. Over 8 classes, we’ll explore the principles of scripted acting primarily through two-person scene work. The concepts of presence, agreement, trust, commitment and support are fostered through large and small group exercises. By the end of the class, you’ll be well-prepared to perform short two-person scenes. You'll also have a ton of fun and make new friends! In the end-of-class show, you’ll get to show off all you’ve learned to an invited audience of family and friends.
