Prerequisites: Presence & Spontaneity or another introductory improv course Mondays, 19:15-21:45, October 26-December 14 Class Show: Friday December 18 Being an idiot is a craft. Being in touch with our naivety, creativity and joy, being open and ready for whatever comes - that’s a craft. In this eight-week course we will dive into the world of the clown, where movement, improvisation, listening, playing, and being in the moment are key. Through exercises and games we will practice un-learning our habits and patterns, we'll explore the art of physical comedy and poetics, leaving our thinking minds outside of the studio and connecting to our physical self and its impulses. We'll sharpen our improvisational skills, embrace the joy of play, and move towards being fully present in the here and now. Shai is a multidisciplinary artist based in Berlin. She trained in physical theatre & clowning at “Beit Hagefen,” Haifa and “Hayadit” theatre, Pardes Hana, Teatri La Luna Nel Pozzo in Italy and completed the MA program at Arthaus Berlin. In the last couple of years Shai has been facilitating her PlayGround workshops around Berlin, aspiring to create safe spaces for people to discover their playful selves through moving and playing with others in a body based practice. Together, we’ll create a conscious, supportive space where we’ll focus on strong listening, making bold choices, and working together as a team. We’ll empower each other with the “Freedom to Fail,” thereby unleashing our inner creativity. In the end-of-class show, you’ll get to show off all you’ve learned to an invited audience of family and friends. We can't wait to laugh and learn with you!
