Improv Level 4: The Cat's Cradle

Service Description
Prerequisites: at least two intermediate level improv courses Tuesdays, 19:00-21:30, October 22-December 10 Class Show: December 17 In long-form improv, the “referee" in short-form improv games disappears, and all editing decisions are made by the players themselves, in real-time. Further, all "rules" are thrown away, and performers are left to find the “game of the scene” themselves, all while advancing convincing, comedic stories. Together, we’ll create a conscious and supportive space where we’ll focus on the "Cat's Cradle” format of long-form improv. The Cat’s Cradle is a flexible structure that blends character, narrative, and game into one seamless improv set. It uses organic edits and allows for a mix of slow and fast paced scenes, and a range of genres, themes and moods within one show. It relies on dynamic stage placement and blocking. Most importantly, it's a lot of fun! Over 8 classes, we’ll combine everything you’ve learned in previous classes exclusively through long scene work. In the end-of-class show, you’ll get to show off all you’ve learned to an invited audience of family and friends. We can't wait to laugh and learn with you!
