Available spots
Service Description
Prerequisites: Presence & Spontaneity *and* at least one of Narrative or Character, or other Intermediate Improv experience Wednesdays, 19:00-21:30, January 8-February 26 Class Show: March 8 When performing improv, we're inventing worlds with their own laws of cause & effect. Repeating, heightening and breaking these patterns of cause & effect is the comedic foundation of improv. In this course we'll focus on building and heightening patterns and leveraging repetition and surprise for comedic effect. We'll learn how to seek symmetries and empower asymmetries to leverage tension and the expectations of the audience. Together, we’ll create a conscious, supportive space where we’ll focus on strong listening, making bold choices, and working together as a team. We’ll empower each other with the “Freedom to Fail,” thereby unleashing our inner creativity. Over 8 classes we'll be exploring the nature of patterns & repetition primarily through long-form oriented group games. In the end-of-class show, you’ll get to show off all you’ve learned to an invited audience of family and friends. We can't wait to laugh and learn with you!
